. Embedded Systems
DEMCON designs various embedded systems, an increasing amount of these devices need to be connected to a mobile applications and/or a cloud.
A technology used for connecting embedded systems with a mobile application is Bluetooth low energy. This technology can be used for different kinds of applications which also differ in technical requirements. Examples range from HID applications which require a realtime response to sensor applications with long battery life (years).
For DEMCON it is important to be able to adopt this technology as an off the shelf solution. To achieve this, the following needs to be researched and developed.
- Create an up-to-date overview of current available chipsets/modules and software stacks.
- Evaluate possibilities for FOTA (firmware over the air).
- Create demonstrators for a HID application and custom sensor application. The development of the mobile app should be performed with a cross platform application framework such as QT or Xamarin.
- Research possibilities for “mesh” networking. One smart device is a gateway for other devices.
The student will be supervised by engineers from the software engineering department.
If you would like to receive more information concerning the internship, you can contact Frits Kuipers, software engineer (phone: 088 115 2000). If you would like to apply for the internship, please send your motivation letter and resume to Marleen Blanckenborg, recruiter (e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org).
