Within the organization of DEMCON, Industrial Design Engineers focus on areas such as usability, ergonomics, look and feel, and manufacturability. Of all the business sectors in which DEMCON is active, these skills are most relevant in the medical sector. As an industrial design intern you will contribute to various complex medical products, such as surgical handtools, medical robotics and diagnostic equipment within the department of Mechanical and Industrial Design in Enschede. During this process you will be helped and supervised by your experienced colleagues of the department.
We are looking for an intern who is skilled at, and wants to further develop;
- Sketching and design (markers and computer sketching)
- Usability and workflow analysis (using visualization and rapid prototyped models)
- 3D modelling (Solidworks) and rendering
- Rapid prototyping (from foam to functioning 3D printed prototypes)
Interns are also expected to be pro-active and have an affinity with technology in order to easily communicate with the various engineering disciplines within DEMCON. A pragmatic approach to design and a desire to make things in order to quickly do hands-on testing is essential.
