Computer vision is the use of digital processing and intelligent algorithms to interpret meaning from images or video. PC platforms and GPU plug-in cards are already used in several applications.
However, for performance reasons and real-time requirements a transformation to an FPGA based embedded platform is preferred.
The assignment is to research the possibilities of an generic FPGA based vision platform.
This platform shall support multiple standard Video I/O interfaces such as CameraLink, GIGE Vision and HDMI. An off-the-shelf development kit is used to implement the interfaces and provide an framework for additional signal processing and intelligent vision algorithms.
The assignment includes research to practical tools and techniques to map vision algorithms on the embedded platform. The assignment is completed with a demo application that demonstrates the capabilities of the vision platform.
Before starting your internship, it is usual to define a clear, framed and achievable assignment with everyone who is involved.
You will be a part of the electronics engineering department. During your internship, you will be supervised by one assigned electronics engineering colleague who is able to help and support you.
