Assignment | PLC target to Embedded targetblauwe balk

DEMCON develops a variety of products and machinery. Machinery is usually controlled by IPC or PLC (Beckhoff, B&R, Siemens etc.). In some cases, because of the success of the machinery, the production is scaled up to more than 100 machines a year. In this case the initial chosen PLC is an expensive part as are the wiring of the cabinets. An embedded platform is cost price driven a solution. For maintenance reasons and for software knowledge (available people) reasons you don’t want to leave the software platform of the PLC (most of the time Codesys).

The assignment is to research the possibilities to integrate the existing PLC software platform in an embedded solution. Which different type of configurations are possible? Are there off the shelf products to use or do we have to develop our own target for the product?

Before starting your internship, it is usual to define a clear, framed and achievable assignment with everyone who is involved.

You will be a part of the electronics engineering department. During your internship, you will be supervised by one assigned electronics engineering colleague who is able to help and support you.
